The influence of surface roughness on the fatigue strength in high strength steels and different cutting processes are studied. Fatigue testing is conducted on S700 and S960 material for different plate thicknesses cut in dog bone specimens using oxygen, plasma, laser and waterjet cutting. The surface roughness is measured for all specimens and residual stress measurements are carried out. Estimations of the fatigue strength are made based on the measured surface roughness and the ISO 9013:2002 standard for thermal cutting quality tolerances. The testing shows a 15–70 % increase in the fatigue strength compared to the estimation, proving a weak connection between the surface quality levels in ISO 9013:2002 and the fatigue test results. Different codes and design recommendations (IIW, EC3 and EN 13001) for fatigue strength of cut surfaces are compared with the fatigue test results which clearly shows an increased fatigue strength with enhanced quality and steel grades. However, the codes and design recommendations do not allow for any fatigue strength improvement with improved quality and increased yield strength. 相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to describe experiments carried out on laser stake welded T-joints of web-core steel sandwich structures. A special test setup was developed to measure the shear-induced rotation at the T-joint. The ratio of the shear force to rotation angle gave the joint stiffness. This stiffness was measured for specimens with two different face-plate thicknesses. The influence of weld thickness, root gap and occurrence of contact were further investigated with finite element simulations. Finally, the shear stiffness of the sandwich structure transverse to the web plate direction was determined using the experimentally obtained average joint stiffness value. The validation of the shear stiffness was carried out by considering a beam in four-point bending. The agreement between calculated deflection and stress and experimental results was found to be good. 相似文献

When solving multiobjective optimization problems, there is typically a decision maker (DM) who is responsible for determining the most preferred Pareto optimal solution based on his preferences. To gain confidence that the decisions to be made are the right ones for the DM, it is important to understand the trade-offs related to different Pareto optimal solutions. We first propose a trade-off analysis approach that can be connected to various multiobjective optimization methods utilizing a certain type of scalarization to produce Pareto optimal solutions. With this approach, the DM can conveniently learn about local trade-offs between the conflicting objectives and judge whether they are acceptable. The approach is based on an idea where the DM is able to make small changes in the components of a selected Pareto optimal objective vector. The resulting vector is treated as a reference point which is then projected to the tangent hyperplane of the Pareto optimal set located at the Pareto optimal solution selected. The obtained approximate Pareto optimal solutions can be used to study trade-off information. The approach is especially useful when trade-off analysis must be carried out without increasing computation workload. We demonstrate the usage of the approach through an academic example problem. 相似文献

Surface engineering shows an increasing potential to provide a sustainable approach to icing problems. Currently, several passive anti-ice properties adoptable to coatings are known, but further research is required to proceed for practical applications. This is due to the fact that icing reduces safety, operational tempo, productivity and reliability of logistics, industry and infrastructure. An icing wind tunnel and a centrifugal ice adhesion test equipment can be used to evaluate and develop anti-icing and icephobic coatings for a potential use in various arctic environments, e.g., in wind power generation, oil drilling, mining and logistic industries. The present study deals with evaluation of icing properties of flame-sprayed polyethylene (PE)-based polymer coatings. In the laboratory-scale icing tests, thermally sprayed polymer coatings showed low ice adhesion compared with metals such as aluminum and stainless steel. The ice adhesion strength of the flame-sprayed PE coating was found to have approximately seven times lower ice adhesion values compared with metallic aluminum, indicating a very promising anti-icing behavior. 相似文献

Planning production processes for product families have been well recognised as an effective means of achieving successful product family development. However, most existing approaches do not lend themselves to planning production processes with focus on the optimality of the cohort of a product family. This paper addresses process family planning for product families. In view of the advantages of Petri nets (PNs) for modelling large systems, the potential of knowledge-based systems (KBSs) for solving complex problems and the analogy in between, we develop a methodology by integrating PNs and KBSs to support process family planning. An integrated product–process family structure, called IP2S, is proposed to organise all data pertaining to a product family and the corresponding process family, thereby anchoring planning to one platform. With the IP2S, a formal PN model of process family planning is further developed by integrating the principles of several well-defined PN extensions. Thus, this paper also contributes to visualising the dynamic behaviours and reasoning behind process family planning. The methodology is applied to process family planning for a truck family. The preliminary results demonstrate the feasibility and potential of using the methodology to support process family planning. 相似文献

Adhesion of extrusion‐coated polymer sealing layers on an atomic layer deposited (ALD) aluminum oxide (Al2O3) surface coating was investigated with a view to gain information on the applicability of ALD deposited barrier layers in fiber‐based packaging materials. The polymers used for the sealing layer were low density polyethylene (LDPE), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), and polylactide (PLA). They were extrusion‐coated onto the ceramic side of paper/PET/Al2O3 substrates, where the Al2O3 layer was a few tens of nanometers thick. According to the results, good adhesion was obtained for LDPE coating, whereas the other coatings showed a considerable lack of adhesion. Presumably, the oxidation faced by LDPE in the air gap of the extrusion‐coating process was able to create an extensive number of reactive sites that strongly bonded with the hydroxyl groups on the oxide surface of the substrate. With the PET and PLA coatings, such oxidation did not occur and the adhesion obtained remained at a relatively poor level. With all of the coatings, the adhesion levels were improved using corona discharge equipment as a pretreatment prior to the extrusion‐coating process. POLYM. ENG. Flavonoids in the hemolymph of European pine sawfly (Neodiprion sertifer) larvae that were feeding on Pinus sylvestris needles were identified. HPLC-ESI-MS analysis revealed that the main components in the hemolymph were flavonol di- and triglucosides and a catechin monoglucoside. These compounds were isolated from the larval hemolymph and their structures were established by HPLC-MS, GC-MS, and NMR spectroscopy. The isolated flavonoids were identified as (+)-catechin 7-O-β-glucoside, isorhamnetin 3,7,4'-tri-O-β-glucoside, kaempferol 3,7,4'-tri-O-β-glucoside, and quercetin 3,7,4'-tri-O-β-glucoside. The combined concentration of these four compounds in the hemolymph was 3.7 mg/ml. None of these compounds was present in the needles of P. sylvestris. Therefore, we propose that the flavonoid glucosides were produced by the larvae from flavonoid monoglucosides and (+)-catechin obtained from the pine needles. 相似文献

Antigenic peptides may be immobilized in nanostructured films in order to build highly specific immunosensors and other devices that require molecular recognition, with no need to use complex molecules. A major challenge for such endeavors, however, is to preserve the secondary structure of the peptides after immobilization. In this study, we show that the peptide p17-1 (LSGGELDRWEKIRLRPGG), derived from the HIV-1 p17 protein, may be immobilized in Layer-by-Layer (LbL) films made with polyelectrolytes. Its structure was preserved only if incorporated into phospholipid liposomes, according to fluorescence and circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy. The lack of secondary structure for the peptide in the LbL film may be associated with the film-forming procedure in which p17-1 was adsorbed from an aqueous solution, where it does not form alpha helices. The importance of structure preservation was clear in the attempts to produce electrochemical immunosensors with the p17-1 peptide without being protected in liposomes in an LbL film. There was no detectable influence of the presence of anti-p17 antibodies, though some molecular interaction could be inferred from the voltammograms. In contrast, for p17-1 incorporated in liposomes electrochemical immunosensors could be obtained with the voltamogramms showing strong molecular recognition with the antibodies. These results indicated that phospholipids serve as a suitable matrix for immobilization of peptides, and confirmed the importance of structure preservation in electrochemical immunosensors. 相似文献

Forestry practices increase mercury and methyl mercury output from boreal forest catchments 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We observed significant increases in the runoff output of total mercury (TotHg) and methyl mercury (MeHg) from a small spruce forest catchment (0.071 km2) after clear-cutting and soil treatment. Here we show that forest regeneration practices may act as an important additional source of TotHg and MeHg to forest lakes. TotHg and MeHg in runoff from two small forested catchments were monitored during the period 1994 to 2001. In the autumn of 1997, one of the catchments was clear-cut Soil preparation (mounding) was carried out in the autumn of 1998 and replanting in the summer of 1999. During the 3 years after the silvicultural treatment, medians of monthly flow-weighted TotHg and MeHg concentrations (12.02 ng L(-1) and 0.35 ng L(-1), respectively) and output loads (0.80-0.97 g km(-2) a(-1) and 0.011-0.036 g km(-2) a(-1), respectively) increased significantly compared to the 3 years calibration period (8.13 ng L(-1) and 0.15 ng 1(-1); 2.0-5.3 g km(-2) a(-1) and 0.11-0.16 g km(-2) a(-1), respectively). These results indicate that clear-cutting and/or soil treatment significantly increases the mobility of TotHg and MeHg accumulated in forest soil and may thus be an important factor for the total input of Hg to boreal freshwater ecosystems. 相似文献

Reconstruction of nerve defects is a clinical challenge. Autologous nerve grafts as the gold standard treatment may result in an incomplete restoration of extremity function. Biosynthetic nerve conduits are studied widely, but still have limitations. Here, we reconstructed a 10 mm sciatic nerve defect in healthy rats and analyzed nerve regeneration in poly (ε-caprolactone) (PCL) conduits longitudinally divided by gold (Au) and gold-cobalt oxide (AuCoO) nanoparticles embedded in poly-propylene poly-ethylene glycol (PPEG) membranes (AuPPEG or AuCoOPPEG) and compared it with unmodified PPEG-membrane and hollow PCL conduits. After 21 days, we detected significantly better axonal outgrowth, together with higher numbers of activated Schwann cells (ATF3-labelled) and higher HSP27 expression, in reconstructed sciatic nerve and in corresponding dorsal root ganglia (DRG) in the AuPPEG and AuCoOPPEG groups; whereas the number of apoptotic Schwann cells (cleaved caspase 3-labelled) was significantly lower. Furthermore, numbers of activated and apoptotic Schwann cells in the regenerative matrix correlated with axonal outgrowth, whereas HSP27 expression in the regenerative matrix and in DRGs did not show any correlation with axonal outgrowth. We conclude that gold and cobalt-oxide nanoparticle modified membranes in conduits improve axonal outgrowth and increase the regenerative performance of conduits after nerve reconstruction. 相似文献
